![]() ![]() ![]() Participants will gain a practical and applied understanding of the skills and concepts essential for delivering effective therapeutic and psychoeducational groups. This workshop provides an overview of the key concepts and skills of group work. In the last 20-30 years, however, group work has become less and less of a focus within social work education, resulting in fewer and fewer social work practitioners who have formal training and competence in group work. Social work students were commonly trained in their undergraduate and graduate education programs through substantive coursework to be knowledgeable about concepts and skills essential for effective group work practices. Historically, the skills and concepts of Group Work as a method of practice was integral to social work education.
